A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Geni Hutchings (spelled like Genie, pronounced like Gena). I have been married to my best friend for almost 31 years. We have three amazing sons and two of the sweetest and super-fun grandsons we could ask for! My career started in elementary education. After teaching for several years, I felt called to counseling, so I changed directions and earned a master’s degree in counseling from B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary in Arlington, TX. I graduated in 2023 and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas.

Personal Statement

I believe we’re all made in the image of our great and mighty God, designed for a purpose, with gifts, talents, and strengths meant to bring joy to ourselves and others. If you feel you’ve lost your way, lost sight of your purpose, or maybe have never felt it, I’d love to work with you so we can find it and put it into action! I'm here to support you if you are ready to take the next step. Feel free to contact me to learn how we can work together to achieve your goals.

Counseling Approach

First, I believe you are the expert on your life. I am here to walk beside you, equip you, challenge you when needed, and help you reach your goals.

Second, I believe the relationship between a client and therapist is one of the most important things about counseling.

It’s my goal to provide a welcoming, safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. I’m dedicated to providing compassionate care using evidence-based therapy. My approach is client-centered and tailored to your specific needs.

I use a solution-focused framework that includes therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I also see the value in using nonverbal therapies, such as art therapy, sand tray therapy, and play therapy with children.

My ultimate goal is to empower you to achieve your personal goals, build resilience, and enhance your overall quality of life.

What's an LPC-Associate?

An LPC Associate is a mental health professional who has completed a master’s degree in counseling and has passed the National Counselor Examination.

LPC Associates are required to complete 3,000 post graduate hours of counseling work while supervised by an LPC Supervisor.. Cory Bertrand LPC-Supervisor is my supervisor.  She oversees my work and consults with me weekly on my client treatment plans.

LPC Associates provide counseling services and work with clients on various mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, emotional regulation, stress, etc.

After completing the supervised hours, LPC Associates become fully licensed professional counselors.

A LPC-Associate offers a lower fee rate and is not eligible to be on insurance panels. Therefore, I do not accept insurance.
